Arrive Srinagar – Gulmarg (58 kms / 3 hours approx) On arrival at Srinagar Airport you will meet our representative and transferred to Gulmarg, a Meadow of Flowers situated at an altitude of 2730 meters. The best ski resort in the Himalayas, Gulmarg’ legendary beauty, prime location and proximity to Srinagar naturally make it one of the premier hill spots in the country. Originally called 'Gaurimarg' by shepherds, its present name was given in the 16th century by Sultan Yusuf Shah, who was inspired by the sight of its grassy slopes emblazoned with wild flowers. The towering peaks above the meadow are covered with dense forests of tall conifers and gigantic fir and pine trees, all vying with each other to touch the azure skies. A clear day offers some breathtaking views from Gulmarg: fields of rice; clusters of walnut, pear and mulberry; meadows, ridges and forests that lead to the snow slopes. The journey to Gulmarg is equally exciting. The wide roads give beauty to flat expanses of rice fields, interspersed with picturesque villages. In Gulmarg After breakfast at Hotel, Gulmarg is also an important trekking base you can go to enjoy the Gondola Ride to 1st & 2nd Phase (1st Phase Called Kongdori & 2nd Phase called Affarwat (optional, can be Provided on Extra Cost) The two-stage gondola lift ferries about 600 people per hour to and from Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Apharwat Peak (4,200 m (13,780 ft)). The ropeway project is a joint venture of the Jammu and Kashmir government and French firm Pomagalski. The first stage transfers from the Gulmarg resort at 2,600 m (8,530 ft) to Kongdoori Station in the bowl-shaped Kongdori valley. The second stage of the ropeway, which has 36 cabins and 18 towers, takes skiers to a height of 3,747 m (12,293 ft) on Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Afarwat Peak (4,200 m (14,000 ft)). Gulmarg – Drung waterfall – Gulmarg After breakfast at hotel proceed for Drung Waterfall by union cab on direct payment basis which is the finest and most gorgeous waterfall in Kashmir. In summers this waterfall cascades down beautifully and in winters it remains completely frozen. This is most visited in the winters season to see the long ice wall it forms out of freezing. There is a vast natural mountain wall beside the river stream. The entire water of the fall freezes with some splashes of water falling over it. Gulmarg - Srinagar (58 kms / 3 hours approx) – Local Sightseeing Srinagar After breakfast at Hotel. You will be transferred to Srinagar to Check-in at Hotel. Afternoon, enjoy visit to Mughal Gardens - Nishat (The Garden of Pleasure) and Shalimar (Abode of All), Nishant Bagh, Shankaracharya Temple. Drive along the Lake side on Boulevard. On your way back, visit a local Handicrafts Emporium for hand-knotted silk carpets and shawls as well as ornaments. In evening, enjoy a Shikara-ride on Dal Lake. Kashmiri boats called Shikara, are used to explore the intricate maze of waterways on this lake. Experience the panoramic view of the mountains surrounding Srinagar from this lake.
